What matters in the end • Job 1:21

The Bible declares that we will leave this world the same way we came into it — naked. Now, I believe that God isn’t just referring to the clothes (or lack thereof) that we will be wearing; but rather, to the state of our departure.

You aren’t taking anything with you from this life into the next life. Flesh and blood can’t inherit the kingdom of God. It’s a good practice to introspectively strip away from your identity anything that isn’t up to par with that standard: your job title, your earthly accomplishments, your car, your family.

You’ll stand before the Lord alone one day — naked and laid bare before the eyes of Him to whom we must give account. He will view you for who you are without any of those things by which we tend to identify or value ourselves today.

What have you done with your life? Have you surrendered your will to God? Have you given Him your self? In the end, that’s going to be all that matters. If you haven’t, surrender your life to Him today. He is waiting to welcome you with open arms. If you’re truly ready to give your heart, your love, your will, your life, your all to Him — if you are willing to turn away from everything that goes against His will for you — He will absolutely receive and welcome you with open arms. God has made a way for wretched people such as ourselves to be saved and to live eternally in Him through Jesus Christ.
