obedience
The long anticipated week of Vacation Bible School finally arrived. Obedience formed the theme for Day 1 of "Adventures in the Kingdom." Children learned about King Saul's disobedience. His choices to not fully follow God's instructions led to the loss of his kingdom. Jesus, the perfect King of kings, established His kingdom through obedience.
May this chosen generation and royal priesthood learn to trust and to obey!
Activities
The memory verse was emphasized throughout the day. In the Craft Courtyard, each child made a journal as a reminder that to obey is better than sacrifice. While in the Banquet Room children snacked on marshmallow and pretzel "sheep."
Sheep tend to stray, but they need to follow their shepherd, just as Christians ought to obey the Good Shepherd, Jesus. During their time in the Tournament Field, the kids played games like, Jesus Says!, Red Light; Green Light!, Or North, South, Central! (There are three different lines called, North, South, and Central. The kids all race to the line called out.) The Musical Minstrels opened and closed the day with their theme song, "Knights for Christ," which showcased the importance of obedience. The children cried out, "Our King has called us to obey His voice and trust in Him."
Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice.
