As we approach the season of gift exchanges, many people are tempted by greed and covetousness. The covetous will not inherit the kingdom of heaven (1 Corinthians 6:10). Also see (Luke 12:15; Ephesians 5:3; Colossians 3:5). Camping out for a new phone isn’t a big deal anymore, but we hesitate to spend time and money to go to a church retreat. I believe God put the desire for the “new” in every human; that feeling of getting a gift, it all points to something bigger, something better: a new heaven and new earth which are coming.
“Things which eye has not seen and ear has not heard, and which have not entered the heart of man, all that God has prepared for those who love Him.” (1 Corinthians 2:9)
I hope you have a wonderful Christmas, but remember, the best gift you can ever hope to receive is yet to come if you are waiting for Jesus the Lord.
