Two types of people exist: those that are humble who shall be lifted up, and those that are proud who shall be humbled (Matthew 23:12). God opposes the proud and He gives grace to the humble (James 4:6). Humility is a most notable quality that a believer ought to have, while arrogance is the worst. Jesus declares that whoever wants to be first must be the slave of all. The Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many (Mark 10:44-45). Jesus is the humility of God embodied and manifested in human nature. Jesus has all authority and all power and yet chooses to refrain from exercising that right. As followers of Christ, we are to adopt the attitude and virtue of humility by esteeming others higher; having a grateful heart; being selfless, considerate, and respectful; and praying for God’s help in everything. Let’s be humble like Jesus!
