“Then appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire…” This reminded me of the burning bush that Moses encountered in Exodus 3:2. Moses saw the burning bush and heard God’s voice and God’s name in this chapter. Eventually, God would manifest His presence in the form of a cloud or a pillar of fire to lead the children of Israel through the wilderness. But now, God has revealed Himself to us totally through Jesus. “He is the image of the invisible God” (Colossians 1:15). When Jesus died, rose again, and ascended into heaven, He left us The Helper. The Holy Spirit now reveals the presence of God through every believer. It’s not one burning bush, but many; not one pillar of fire, but many. People should be able to see who God is by looking at our lives. Oh God, purify me! Set me ablaze with your Holy Fire!
