Missing Something • Judges 7:4

Little by little, God reduced Gideon’s army of 32,000 down to 300. Why would God take a capable person like Gideon and make their circumstances seem impossible? The true victory happened even before the battle began, in verse 15, “…[Gideon] worshipped. He returned to the camp of Israel, and said, ‘Arise for the LORD has delivered the camp of Midian into your hand.” God reduced Gideon’s army to grow his faith. The victory wasn’t his but belonged to God alone. Do things seem impossible? Are you weary or unsure? Then you, my friend, are in good company, for this is what Paul determined to rejoice in. He learned through the most difficult circumstances that in his weakness, the strength of Christ is made perfect. (2 Cor. 12:9-10)
