In this context, what the disciples did, rebuking the children, was considered culturally normal. While a priest would teach and explain the scriptures, kids running around would be considered a nuisance. Jesus stopped because these little children and their parents needed and sought Jesus. We must be careful to not push away a difficulty or a nuisance in our lives when Jesus wants us to let them come. Jesus doesn’t call us to comfortable lives free of difficulties and annoyances, but rather to be a light and seek him in every situation for his heart. Sometimes nuisances in our life are just blessings in disguise. Learn to follow God’s heart not the culture or your comforts.
