An Excellent Spirit • Daniel 5:12

Daniel, over and over again in scripture, is valued for having such a close relationship to “The Holy God”, the true God. But when God speaks of Belshazzar, the king of Babylon at the time, this is what He has to say: “…You have been weighed in the balances, and found wanting” (5:27). May this never be me; may this never be you. Daniel, even though he had proven himself time and time again, was taken for granted by his peers and superiors, and he was often the last person called upon. But when Daniel was finally called upon, he was ready because he invested in the thing that mattered most: His relationship with the Lord. “…An excellent spirit, knowledge, understanding, interpreting dreams, solving riddles, and explaining enigmas were found in this Daniel.” (5:12)
