Vanity of Vanities • Ecclesiastes 1:2

Both religious and non-religious circles alike agree that stuff won’t make you happy, but something else Solomon teaches us is that experiences won’t either. Media presents wanderlust as a beautiful dream that anyone can turn into a reality. Just book a weekend flight; be spontaneous! But when you get home, there are still bills to pay. Even if you quit your job and maintain that lifestyle, it’s still going to end one day, and you’re required to give an account for your time on earth. Remember, the writer of this book had it all- access to every luxury, experience, and the greatest store of wisdom anyone has ever had,  yet his evaluation is- it’s not enough. The only thing that satisfies is a relationship with Jesus. In the greatest experiences and worst, whether we have nothing or everything, He is the only constant available to our human existence.
